What a wonderful surprise this place was. Full of history, and the caretaker on the day gave us a full description of everything. It was very interesting. Then we took a walk up to the weir wall with lovely bush views ❣️Recommend if you enjoy early Australian history of the local area.

Interesting and interactive, O'Connow Museum inside No. 1 Pump Station at Mundaring Weir tells the story of how important this dam is to the people and who the pump station works to send water hundreds of kilometres onto the goldfields own Western Australia.

Great walk. Plenty of stairs if you would like to walk over the dam. The building is only open in the afternoons. Small admission fee to see the inner historical pumps.

Pure history! what it was a pump station serving the Golden Pipeline is now a museum where show kids and adults the spirit of the west. how man chased gold even in the harshest of the conditions, pushing water through miles and miles just to get to the place where a huge golden nugget was found. In the 19th century they never did things halfway. Huge steam pumps, huge pipes, and a huge dam for a huge state.

Fascinating insight into moving water from Mundaring to Kalgoorlie 120 years ago. Working model of pumping stations along the route kept the family well entertained. Good to see Lake O'Connor fairly full, too.

Blown away by the history of this place and the human effort and ingenuity that went into it. Be aware that the pump station itself might be closed without notice, as it's run by volunteers, but there's still plenty to see around it. And the info boards are as good as they get in WA
